The Gunpowder Gin making process begins with a slow distillation with 8 botanicals added to the copper still: juniper berries, meadowsweet, cardamom, coriander seeds, angelica root, orris root, caraway seeds, and star anise. Then, 4 more botanicals are added to the steamer basket: gunpowder tea, Chinese lemon, oriental grapefruit, and kaffir lime.

The creature on the label is the mythological offspring of a hare and an American antelope. According to legend, it was conceived in a thunderstorm.

This charity edition supports the Sichuan Green Foundation, with a portion of the profits going to the protection of China's giant pandas.
