Castello di Monsanto is one of the oldest and most reknowned producers of Chianti. decorated with many awards over time their wines are a prime example of premium Chianti Wines. This multi-faceted wine can be enjoyed straight away or left to develop and evolve as the years roll by. It is our most widely produced wine by far, underlining the winery’s belief in Sangiovese, which acquires a strength and energy from our soil that must be patiently awaited. One of the oldest wines in Italy, it appeared on the market in the 1960s and has become an ambassador for the entire denomination around the world.
A blend of 90% Sangiovese with 10% Canaiolo and Colorina. Aged 18months in French oak and a further 3 months in the bottle. A wine that will age very well and develop over time but also good to drink now. Classic cherry fruits with nice spice and vegetal herby notes on the finish. Highly acclaimed as one of the Best Chiantis from the region.
